Smart Production: Automation for more efficiency

MULTIVAC Group at interpack (Hall 5, Stand A23)

26.03.2026

Wolfertschwenden, 26 March 2026 – Smart Production: At interpack 2026 the MULTIVAC Group will be demonstrating, how digitalisation, integrated line solutions and innovative servicing concepts can contribute to an increase in efficiency, transparency and sustainability in food production. Among the exhibits will be various integrated line solutions, as well as a number of vision systems for controlling contamination in the sealing area of food packs.

“For our customers the term Smart Production simply means reliable, cost-effective and sustainable production. Our integrated line solutions and robotic systems increase efficiency, output and process reliability. Our Smart Services and AI-supported solutions provide more transparency and a higher level of machine availability, as well as increased productivity overall,“ says Dominik Rotter, Senior Director for Digital Products & Transformation at MULTIVAC.

Smart Production – More efficiency throughout the whole line

Using an AI-supported TX traysealer line, MULTIVAC will illustrate the extraordinary flexibility that is possible in production through the use of AI. The demonstration will feature the highly efficient and simultaneous packaging in trays of various products from two or more separate infeed streams. The AI-controlled product identification and the intelligent "print & apply“ labelling enable the traysealer capacity to be utilised perfectly.

The TX 720 traysealer is fed in parallel with two streams of identical trays, which each contain either Product A or Product B. After the products have been packaged, an AI-supported L 310 labelling and inspection system identifies the content of the particular pack, prints the appropriate label and then applies this to the tray. The trays are subsequently separated according to product and stacked by two MULTIVAC stacking units.

A compact TX traysealer line for packaging convenience food will also be on display at the trade fair. This comprises a denester, a filler from GS Italia, a TX 620 traysealer and an L 310 labeller for printing and applying labels to the top and bottom of the trays. The vision system, which is integrated in the labeller, checks the printed labels for presence and legibility, so that any reject packs can be ejected. Due to its high output in relation to its space requirement, the TX 620 enables very efficient production to be achieved within a small space. Thanks to its robust and maintenance-free servo technology, as well as its intelligent machine control and user-friendly control terminal, the TX 620 offers the maximum degree of reliability. Its linking to the MULTIVAC Smart Services, as well as the centralised line control and simple user guidance, make this traysealer line a future-proof packaging solution.

The MULTIVAC vision systems for controlling contamination in the sealing area of food packs guarantee the highest level of pack quality and product safety. They detect very reliably whether there is any product residue in the sealing area – and not only with transparent films, but now also with partially or even fully printed films. This ensures that only attractive packs get to the point of sale, as well as contributing to consumer protection thanks to secure and faultless packs.

The vision systems can be integrated into thermoforming packaging machines, or they can be used as stand-alone systems downstream of a thermoforming packaging machine or traysealer. Both variants fit seamlessly into existing processes, and they provide very reliable quality control within the line. Thanks to their in-depth integration into the HMI of the packaging machine, the vision systems can be operated via one central control terminal. Their modular construction also makes it possible to adapt them perfectly to the customer's particular requirements or configuration.

With its RX Ultimate model, MULTIVAC will also be exhibiting at interpack an intelligent, sustainable and future-proof thermoforming packaging machine, which sets a new benchmark in thermoforming packaging. Thanks to its progressive multi-sensor control and seamless online connectivity, the machine achieves consistent pack quality and high output. The innovative pixelHEAT and pixelSEAL technology optimises the process reliability, while ensuring that ultra-thin and sustainable films are run very consistently.

The MULTIVAC CustomCare after-sales services, which are tailored to the customer's specific products and production conditions, ensure that the maximum machine output and availability are achieved. “Today productivity is more than just a well-maintained machine or line. It is about the whole line being networked, transparent and predictive,” explains Dominik Rotter. “It is for this reason, that we combine our many years of experience and human expertise with machine intelligence such as MULTIVAC Smart Services and predictive maintenance. To create digital solutions, which connect people with machines, services and data – and in this way to provide the maximum transparency and efficiency.“
