Flexibility and gentle product handling at high output: MULTIVAC sausage applications

MULTIVAC at IFFA 2025 (Hall 12.1, Stand A 41): Experience sausage loading and packaging applications in operation

Wolfertschwenden, 2 April 2025 – With almost 100 installations worldwide, the MULTIVAC Group has extensive experience in automation solutions for loading sausages into packaging machines. Thanks to its expertise and wide range of solutions, the company is able to configure customised processing and packaging lines, which are tailored to the individual needs of its customers. Two solutions for sausage applications will be presented at this year's IFFA in Frankfurt: A demo system for gently loading sausages into a packaging machine, as well as an automatic system for producing dual packs.

Automatic system for loading sausages

A variety of solutions for sausage applications will be shown in action at the trade fair: Using an ascending conveyor, the sausage loading system transports large quantities of unsorted sausages into the MULTIVAC Centrifuge Feeder. There the sausages are aligned very gently, while also at the same time achieving a high output, before being fed to the handling module in perfect orientation. The demo system, which will be exhibited at IFFA, simulates the hygienic and gentle pick & place loading into the packaging machine at very high output and with great precision. The technology provides particularly gentle product handling, which minimises mechanical stress and significantly reduces damage to the product. The industry-leading level of hygiene and ease of cleaning meet all the strict requirements of the meat industry. Thanks to almost 100 installations worldwide, MULTIVAC is able to draw on its extensive experience. More than five billion sausages per year are loaded reliably and efficiently with MULTIVAC automation solutions.

Automatic system for bundling and FullWRAP labelling

The second sausage application to be presented at IFFA is a L 310 FullWRAP labeller, complete with an automatic stacker for dual packs, using the example of vacuum-packed sausages in flexible film. An infeed conveyor transports the packs into the stacker, where each time two packs are stacked, one on top of the other. Thanks to the FullWRAP label, which is attached over all four sides like a sleeve, the two packs are bundled together and labelled at the same time. It is also possible with the L 310 FullWRAP labeller to apply labels to single packs as well.

The combined line, consisting of the L 310 FullWRAP labeller and pack stacker, is not just space-saving, but also delivers all the other benefits of FullWRAP labelling in addition to the bundling of sausage packs. These include attractive product presentation due to the high level of flexibility in label material and shape, as well as maximum user-friendliness thanks to other functions such as label perforation or adhesive-free areas for opening aids, and even the opportunity to produce more sustainable packs through material savings, for example instead of cardboard sleeves.
