Introducing the team at MULTIVAC

31.05.2024

At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?

We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.

It’s our May instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...

Garry Miles, Innovation Centre Manager

Tell us more about your role at MULTIVAC!

As Innovation Centre Manager, I am responsible for overseeing the planning and running of the Innovation Centre at MULTIVAC UK. The role centralises around ensuring the centre operates efficiently, whilst supporting the Product Managers and Sales Team.

What does your day to day look like?

While the below provides a general outline, the reality of my day-to-day role can vary significantly based on the specific needs and priorities of the centre, as well as any unexpected developments that may arise:

  • Offloading new machines and following the unpacking process
  • Moving and installing equipment, connecting electrical, air and water supplies
  • Planning and authorising trails and maintaining the trial calendar
  • Setting up trials, running trials, recording data
  • Keeping the Innovation Centre clean and presentable for customers arrival
  • Ordering parts for connecting services, cleaning, and supplies
  • Maintaining film and tray stock, including that from our customer’s
  • Participating in internal meetings to discuss upcoming projects
  • Managing issues as they arise, whether related to staff, projects or operational matters
  • Implementing solutions to improve processes and overcome obstacles
How long have you worked at MULTIVAC? Have you had any other roles?

I have been with MULTIVAC since April 2012. My joining role was Field Technician, and I was in this role for just over 11 years. I then became the Innovation Centre Manager and have been in this current position for 9 months.

What do you like about working at MULTIVAC so far? What is your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of the of my job is customer’s visits, when they see how well the Innovation Centre is presented. It’s a team effort to set up the trials and it is a great when the customer is impressed and go away having had a great experience.

What is a current problem our customers and the industry are facing that you are aiming to fix?

New packaging solutions - we aim to be able to offer multiple options for reducing plastic or packaging that is 100% recyclable to our customers when visiting the Innovation Centre.

What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?

I am currently working on process improvements that will help to enhance the customer experience.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have a few hobbies that I enjoy outside of work such as: going to the gym, going fishing and playing golf. I also enjoy taking the dog for a walk… to the pub!!

What is something you have always wanted to do, but haven’t done yet?

A few of you may know that I like fast cars! I would like to take my own car to the Nürburgring in Germany, but my wife won’t let me!!!!

Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...

I used to be into wind surfing but a near death experience with a roll on roll off ferry in Poole Harbour! After that, I came to my senses and decided golf and fishing were safer hobbies.

Stay tuned for next month‘s instalment of MeetMULTIVAC!
