MeetMULTIVAC: Field Service Technician, Processing

Introducing the team at MULTIVAC

24.06.2025

At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?

We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.

It’s our June instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...

Luke Critchley, Field Service Technician: Processing

What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...

In my role as Field Service Technician, I attend customers sites and carry out: planned maintenance, installations and attend breakdowns on our machines within the factories. I do this for our processing machinery which means I can end up working in all different areas of the UK.

What does your day to day look like?

Every day can differ depending on what is planned. Some days I can be heading to a site to carry out an installation which will consist of getting a machine in a factory and running correctly, then training the operators to use the machine properly and safely.

I could be on planned routine maintenance - so on site we will have a machine available for service, and strip down and change parts we can service for new, to keep the machine running to the best of its ability.

Or on breakdowns we will arrive at a site and investigate faults on a machine to diagnose an issue, and then hopefully be able to solve it quickly and efficiently. Alternatively, we look for the root cause so that we can then change that element to decipher how to get the machine running again.

How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC? If not, why not tell us a little bit about your previous experience!

I started Multivac in January 2024. I have been in this role now for 18 months.

What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?

I like the fact that everybody at MULTIVAC is very welcoming and friendly. I get on really well with the people I work with and have made some good friends. I also enjoy meeting new people on different sites. I probably wouldn’t have seen so many different parts of the UK without this role!

What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?

I’m currently working on lots of installations at the minute. Lots of new machines going to customers which is always fun.

What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have any interesting hobbies?

I enjoy watching Rugby. I am a season ticket holder at Sale Sharks. It’s something that me, my dad and brother get to do together and all enjoy.

What would you say is your greatest accomplishment to date? Is there anything you’d still like to achieve?

My greatest accomplishment to date would be passing my apprenticeship. It’s opened up a lot of doors!

If you could trade places with one celebrity for a week, who would it be and why?

Tom Hardy as I think he’s pretty cool. He’s been in some interesting stuff so it would be great to experience being in his place and play some of his characters!

Where has been your favourite place to travel and why?

The Dominican Republic has been my favourite place so far. We had good weather, good food, picturesque settings and the people were friendly. What more could you ask for!

What’s the most memorable concert or live event you’ve attended? Why was it so memorable?

Most memorable live event would be the Rugby World Cup final in Paris. I went with my dad, and it was just a great experience and made some good memories. Taking my dad to the top of the Eiffel Tower was one of the highlights (he’s scared of heights!)

Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...

I don’t have a spleen!

Stay tuned for next month‘s instalment of MeetMULTIVAC!
