MeetMULTIVAC: Managing Director
Introducing the team at MULTIVAC
09.10.2025
At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?
We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.
It’s our October instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...
Rob Kiely, Managing Director
What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...
As Managing Director, I am responsible for the overall management, performance, and strategic direction of MUUK. We have a business to be proud of, offering fantastic technology, service and materials. By protecting our market share and truly listening to our customers’ needs, we can continue to grow profitably. Great service builds trust, trust builds relationships and strong relationships drive long-term success.
How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC?
I am new to the Multivac group but I have 30 years of experience in the packaging industry.
What’s one challenge you’re excited to tackle in your new role?
I am an Electrial / Mechanical engineer by trade and I am extremely excited to learn more about our technology and how it helps our customers. I am looking forward to seeing the equipment in action within real production environments and understanding the value that it delivers. With such a large portfolio of equipment, I’m eager to explore how each piece of equipment fits into our overall strategy.
What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?
Four weeks into the business and the biggest thing that has impressed me so far are the people! When I look at the company values, Respectful, Accountable, Excellence, Collaborative and Engaged, I am very impressed that these values are embedded and lived out every day. I look forward to the business plan roll out where I get to meet the rest of the UK team.
What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?
I have attended the Managing Directors meeting at MUWO to help plan the 2030 strategy, experienced my first Oktoberfest (Wow!) and completed the three year MUUK business plan. We will now work on the business plan rollout.
What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have any interesting hobbies?
I have been married to Jo for 16 years and we have two children, Phoebe (13) and William (9). I love spending time with the family and trying to keep up with the kids! I coach a girls under 14’s football team which gives me quality time with my daughter, and I enjoy spending time with my son at his Jiu-jitsu sessions. When I want some time to myself, you will find me on an Enduro or Mountain bike or out playing golf.
What would you say is your greatest accomplishment to date? Is there anything you’d still like to achieve?
I’d say my greatest accomplishment is my career and becoming a resource people can genuinely rely on for support - whether it’s strategic planning, business decisions, or simply being there when someone needs emotional guidance. Being able to help people whilst seeing them develop and succeed feels like a huge achievement and something I am very proud of.
I am always looking to learn new skills, joining Multivac will give me something to enjoy and achieve over the coming months.
What’s one place you’ve always wanted to visit but haven’t yet?
I enjoy travelling with the family and experiencing different places, cultures and of course the food! I have been extremely lucky to have lived and travelled to some fantastic places. Italy is one country that I have not fully explored and I look to visit in the future.
What’s one piece of advice you live by, professionally or personally?
This is a very difficult question for me! I will pick two pieces of advice I live by — professionally and personally:
“Clarity over perfection”
In both work and life, striving for perfection can slow you down, cause stress, or even stop you from starting. But if you focus on being clear about your goals, your communication, your boundaries, and your next step, you stay adaptable, effective, and honest. Clarity builds trust, momentum, and better decisions.
“Treat people how you want to be treated”
It’s simple but effective, if everyone acted with the same respect, kindness, and fairness they hope to receive, most conflicts and misunderstandings would disappear.
If you could travel back to one specific point in time, when would it be? Why?
After a few too many beers, I once decided to do a bungee jump - even though I am not a fan of heights! If I could go back in time, I think I’d rather just watch others take the plunge instead!
Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...
Many years ago, I bumped into Michael Schumacher in a bar at Melbourne Crown Casino, after a few beers and a bit of banter he invited me to the Australian Grand Prix with full access to the pit lane! Since then I have been a Grand Prix fan!
Stay tuned for next month‘s instalment of MeetMULTIVAC!
