MeetMULTIVAC: Materials Field Specialist

Introducing the team at MULTIVAC

30.07.2025

At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?

We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.

It’s our July instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...

Jon Taylor, Materials Field Specialist

What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...

In a nutshell, my role revolves around managing existing material customers of MULTIVAC UK on a day-to-day basis. I do this with the support of the materials office-based team. I’m also always on the lookout for new opportunities and developing our materials side of the business.

What does your day to day look like?

My day to day varies, but it’s always foot on the gas with lots of customer meeting and/ or trials booked in. It’s hard work with lots of travel, early starts and late nights, but it is equally rewarding. Every day is a school day at MULTIVAC and I’m constantly learning and evolving which I’m grateful for.

How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC? If not, why not tell us a little bit about your previous experience!

I’ve been with MULTIVAC for ‘just’ 9 months. I have supplied material into the business for several years prior.

What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?

It’s actually quite difficult to put into words, but here it goes! The scope that we have by combining the three silos (materials, machine and service) offers so many opportunities for each area of the business to support each other, and offer customers a unique and often market-leading solution. This was something I wasn’t fully aware of when I first joined the company, but I certainly am now! The MULTIVAC name and brand certainly opens doors as it is a renowned for innovative packaging solutions, and that carries through to our materials offer, even when we supply onto a non-MULTIVAC machine.

What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?

Something I’m currently working on that is of particular interest is a fully recyclable film for burgers sold via vending machines. We’ve developed and project managed a completely unique solution - only for 1 million burgers produced a week!

What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have any interesting hobbies?

Up until the past few years, I have been a very keen cyclist with many races under my belt, including stages of the Tour de France. Recently, I have discovered the gym, which has become slightly obsessive. Also, as the kids are (nearly) away from home, my wife and I have come to enjoy a dog walk - if there’s a pub to stop off at somewhere on route!

Thinking back to when you were a child, what did you want to be/ do for a job when you grew up?

Growing up, I always had my heart set on becoming a police officer and working in the traffic department. I was too honest on my application and admitted to a football injury, which deemed me not fit enough to join. It was a big regret of mine, but I do enjoy what I’m doing now!

If you could be a character from a film or book for a day, who would it be and why?

Simple. That would be Jerry Maguire. It’s a pure salesman film and my go to when I need a pick me up! “Show me the money…!”

Do you have a favourite travel destination that you could tell us all about? Let us know why we should go!

We have a family holiday home in Calpe Spain, which we have used for over 25 years and is full of family memories as the children have grown up (Gabriel 19 / Charlotte 23.) That said, Dubai at Christmas a couple of years ago was really nice.

If you had a time machine, what year would you go to and what would you hope to experience?

Tough one… I’ve always thought the 1950’s would have been a great time to experience, because of it being post-war and all the hope and prosperity that would’ve brought.

Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...

As I mentioned a bit earlier, I was lucky enough to race a stage of the Tour de France in 2016 – It wasn’t very fun though!!

Anything else? Is there anything else you’d like us to cover, maybe an important aspect of your job that isn’t covered above? Let us know...

Nine months at MULTIVAC has given me more opportunities to develop both personally and professionally than I thought possible. It has been more than I ever expected and validates the great place to work philosophy.

Stay tuned for next month‘s instalment of MeetMULTIVAC!
