MeetMULTIVAC: Receptionist, Administration Team

Introducing the team at MULTIVAC

22.01.2025

At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?

We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.

It’s our January instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...

Amelia Claydon-Smith, Receptionist, Administration Team

What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...

I work in the Administration Team as a Receptionist, but I also offer office support to our colleagues.

What does your day to day look like?

My day typically invloves answering email enquiries, telephone enquiries and responding to emails. I’m also resposible for other admin activities such as booking hotel reservations, arranging airport transfers, ordering workwear and office supplies, while making sure everything is recorded properly. I also get the pleasure of welcoming and meeting a variety of visitors to our MULTIVAC UK site. And I can’t forget the most important job of them all – ordering the buffets for meetings and the hot lunches for staff!

How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC?

I have been with MULTIVAC UK since March 2024, having previously worked as the administrator for 29 years at BBC Wiltshire.

What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part has to be meeting all the different types of visiotrs to MULTIVAC and making them feel welcome. I am the first person they tend to meet when they come into reception, so it is important to make people feel relaxed and give a positive welcome. I am aslo enjoying learning about MULTIVAC as an organisation and the world of manufacturing. This is a very different environment to working at the BBC.

What is your favourite hobby outside of work and why does it bring you joy?

I have a gorgeous Cockapoo named Molly. I love to go on long walks with Molly and my husband, Mark. We are lukcy to live in an area with really great access to lots of country footpaths across the Wiltshire fields. More often than not, we sight a deer or two, hares and even the occasional buzzard when we are out and about. I like to experience the seasons change, watching the crops grow from tiny blades of grass to beautiful fields of wheat, right through to harvest time. Additionally, my son is a Drum and Bass producer so I like to listen to some music choices that you might not think I would!

What is one thing you've always wanted to try but haven't yet?

This might surprise some people – but I’d love to burn some tyres around a race track. Now wouldn’t that be a good way to blow off some steam!

Where is the most interesting place you have visted/travelled to and why?

A long time ago, I visited New York. The colours of the buildings were the first thing that struck me in the Big Apple, the soft sandy brown and slight smog at the time was great.  I remember going out in Soho Village and seeing a man on unicycle in pink tutu riding up the road - that was definitely something I’d never witnessed before! I’m not much of a flyer these days, so I opt for walking holidays in the UK with our dog now.

If you could learn a new skill in an instant, what would it be?

I would learn to play the guitar. I did start to teach myself once upon a time, but it takes a lot of time and concerntration, so if I could learn it in an instant that would be great.

Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...

I once performed as a singer in the Royal Albert Hall, London!

Stay tuned for next month‘s instalment of MeetMULTIVAC!
