MeetMULTIVAC: Regional Senior Technician
Introducing the team at MULTIVAC
26.05.2025

At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?
We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.
It’s our May instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...
Jon Searancke, Regional Senior Technician, South West
What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...
As the Regional Senior Technician for the South West team, I am responsible for ensuring all customers’ needs in my area are met in the most efficient way possible. Whether it be a machine breakdown, training request, or a last-minute install. I am also responsible for making sure the South West technical team have all the resources they need to promote the MULTIVAC brand and demonstrate why we are the best at everything we do.
What does your day to day look like?
No two days are ever the same! The team and I could have the best laid down plan for the region, only for a phone call to come in at the crack of dawn for it all to change. Being field-based, I tend to divide my time between the office, where I’ll be tackling admin tasks such as emails and joining Teams meetings, to being out at customer sites. In this case, I’m either working alongside other members of the South West team, or meeting with customers directly to make sure their requirements are being met.
How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC? If not, why not tell us a little bit about your previous experience!
I joined MULTIVAC in 2014 as the Chamber Machine technician for the Central London region, which I did for around 18 months. I then joined the South West team as a Preventive Maintenance Technician before heading up the team as of January 2020 just before Covid hit – great timing!
What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?
I enjoy the customer interaction and team ethos that we have in the South West. With the industry being so fast paced and highly demanding, it really helps to know that team are all striving to be the best that we can be across all departments.
What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?
We currently have some exciting projects that are nearing the installation phase. Once completed, these could be very transformative for our customer’s businesses. Being a part of the project from the early stages and witnessing the customer’s vision become a reality creates a real sense of achievement.
What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have any interesting hobbies?
After having our little boy in July 2023, hobbies have taken a bit of a back seat. Weekends are now filled with family days out to aquariums and playparks. It also turns out he is a bit of an adrenalin junkie after a recent trip to Chessington World of Adventures! I also managed to convince my wife to let me put a dart board up at home so I could work on retaining the MULTIVAC Darts Trophy.
If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Randomly, I have always had an interest in books and films focusing on Cryptography. There’s something about codes and puzzles that I really enjoy.
Do you have a favourite book or film that you believe everyone should have watched/read at least once in their lives? What makes your favourite?
Not sure it’s my all-time favourite, but one that always sticks with me is ‘In Time’ with Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy. I think it has a good storyline and plot, albeit with some questionable acting!
Where has been your favourite place to travel and why?
For our honeymoon, we drove the vast majority of Route 66 which was incredible. We hired a bright red Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 and did just under 3000 miles in it. Along the route we stayed in some amazing locations including Monument Valley and The Grand Canyon National Parks. We detoured off the route to take in the Jack Daniels Distillery and visited Las Vegas, both were equally awesome.
If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you want to talk about?
I think anyone that was a teenager in the early 2000’s wouldn’t say no to a BBQ and Corona at Dom Torretto’s talking all things car related.
Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...
Before I joined MULTIVAC, I spent 2 years with a VW racing team as a pit garage mechanic in my spare time. We raced all of the British tracks as well as a few in Europe. It was a great experience and met some amazing drivers from the world of motorsport.
