MeetMULTIVAC: Regional Support Engineer, South West
Introducing the team at MULTIVAC
19.02.2025

At MULTIVAC, our people share the same vision and values to help process and package what is valuable to your business, but how much do you know about the different areas of our business, and the people who make it all happen?
We’re making business more human and introducing you to some of our hard-working, knowledgeable, employees from the various departments at MULTIVAC UK.
It’s our February instalment of MeetMULTIVAC...
Neville Sparks, Regional Support Engineer, South West
What do you do at MULTIVAC? Describe your role...
I support all of our customers in the South West region. I travel on-site to assist with servicing, recommending spare parts, training and general site support for all MULTIVAC supported equipment.
What does your day to day look like?
My day usually consists of attending pre-planned customer site visits. These may involve preparing Service Maintenance Contracts, holding service review meetings, building recommended spare parts lists, delivering training requirements, obsolescence projects, or just be there to offer general support for customers. I also have to complete daily and monthly administrative tasks for reporting purposes.
How long have you worked at MULTIVAC in your role? Have you had any other roles at MULTIVAC?
I have worked for MULTIVAC for just under 4 years. I joined MULTIVAC in April 2021 as a Technician in the South West team until I became Regional Support Engineer in September 2024.
What do you like about working at MULTIVAC? What’s your favourite part of your job?
MULTIVAC is an excellent place to work. I have a great team of people around me that are always ready to help and support, especially when it comes to working together to achieve our objectives and goals. My favourite part of my role is going to visit and meet customers, and supporting them with their day to day requirements.
What are you generally working on at the moment which you are happy to share?
Over the past two months, I have been working closely with one of our customers to upscale their servicing schedules as well as their stock of critical parts. This is because their MULTIVAC machines have achieved just over 12 million machine cycles! We have built a bespoke servicing schedule, specific to their needs, and a schedule of remedial work to ensure the reliability and perfomance of their lines.
What is a keen interest of yours outside of work and how did it start?
I enjoy refurbishing electronics such as old hifi and video equipment in my spare time. When I left school I studied at Exeter Technical College and gained a City & Guilds qualification in TV, Radio and Video servicing before diversifying into Electrical/Mechanical Engineering within the Food Industry, and this interest has always remained.
Have you ever met anyone famous and who was it? If not, who would you like to meet?
Back in the very late 1990’s, when I was on a flight to Mallorca, I was lucky enough to get upgraded to first-class with British Airways. When I joined the queue to board, Robbie Williams and Geri Halliwell were stood infront of me! We had a very brief chat before they were escorted onto the flight – a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment!
What’s the most inspiring place you’ve travelled to?
That would be when I visited Arizona. The Grand Canyon is a geological masterpiece.
If you could learn a new skill in an instant, what would it be?
I would learn more languages if I could pick them up in an instant. I think it’s a bit of a gift to be able to translate your native language to another in your head and then speak it so freely.
Tell us something we don’t know! A surprising or fun fact about you...
I lived in Mallorca for 7 months in my late twenties. I stayed with friends who ran a bar in the North of the island in the village of Pollenca. It was great fun and I’m glad I took the opportunity to live abroad for a while.

Stay tuned for next month‘s instalment of MeetMULTIVAC!
