Semi - automatic Traysealer upgrade from MULTIVAC improves efficiency and throughput of egg production for family - run manufacturer.
Towards the end of last year, MULTIVAC UK upgraded a UK egg manufacturer with a semi-automatic Traysealer solution and worked in direct conjunction with MULTIVAC materials for guaranteed seal & pack quality.
The UK egg producer operates from one of the most modern boiling and manufacturing purpose-built sites, where they produce their unrivalled quality hard boiled eggs, poached eggs and egg mayonnaise.
Upgrade with Confidence
Having first established a relationship in 2007, this UK egg manufacturer has remained a longstanding customer of MULTIVAC. Originally, their production line featured a MULTIVAC T 200 Traysealer, which delivered reliable performance for over 12 years. When the time came to look for a replacement, they reviewed alternatives but ultimately returned to MULTIVAC for an upgrade.
During the decision process, increasing efficiency and output, as well as having flexibility to produce different products at ease, was a high priority for the business. Working with Regional Sales Manager, Luke Gowen, the decision was made to select a higher-spec rotary T 255 Traysealer above a direct drawer-system replacement of the T 200. This meant an increase in output per operator as the loading/unloading method is carried out during the sealing period.
Prior to this, the MULTIVAC T 200, while fit for purpose at the time, did not offer the semi-automatic features that the new T 255 model encompasses. As their business had grown, it was essential for the manufacturer to be presented with machine features that would quicken the production process and be easy to operate for their employees.
Increased Output and Flexibility
MULTIVAC installed a pack lifter, within the rotary die set. This lifts their packs out of the die, making it easier for the operator to remove after sealing, thus speeding up loading times to improve output per head. Additionally, the T 255 offers quick and easy pack format changeovers. This machine can run die sets that can be configured to either seal only, MAP or even skin, all within the same die just changing individual change parts. This allowed for easy tooling changeovers on the T 255 between twin packs and round pots, minimising downtime and offering flexibility for product variations.
The Full Package
With the difficulties that come from working with products containing liquid and packaging with a seal, it was also paramount for this major UK egg producer to have confidence in the materials paired with their new T 255 Traysealer. Jason Baker, Materials Specialist from MULTIVAC UK, worked alongside the sales and product management team to trial reels of a top web film suitable for sealing to a mono Polyester preformed pot, packing two hard boiled eggs. The trials were a success, and the manufacturer was pleased with the performance of the seals and the nice clean peel function.
MULTIVAC UK ensure the solutions offered to each customer are tailored to their specific production requirements and production environment. To guarantee this, MULTIVAC work closely with customers from the beginning to end of the project making certain any nuances that need to be considered are captured.
Impeccable Installation and Superior Aftersales Service
This business has also benefitted from the outstanding aftersales service MULTIVAC provide. Much like any new machine installation, they experienced a few teething issues with the T 255, but with the dedication and support of Luke Gowen, Jason Baker and the team of technical engineers, this leading UK egg producer has received full support whenever they have required assistance on site, ensuring minimum impact on their production.
They can now take advantage of the extensive and sophisticated support offered by MULTIVAC UK’s Technical Service department. This service guarantees optimal availability and performance of their new T 255 Traysealer, providing access to over 60 field service technicians and a technical helpdesk, all at no additional cost.
