Processing and packaging fish and seafood efficiently and sustainably
MULTIVAC at Seafood Processing Global (Hall 3, Stand 3DD601)
23.02.2026
Wolfertschwenden, 23 February 2026 – Exhibiting at this year's Seafood Processing Global in Barcelona (21-23 April), MULTIVAC will be presenting efficient and sustainable packaging solutions for the fish and seafood industry. The focus will be on packaging and handling solutions, which not only improve the shelf life of fish and seafood, but also provide an attractive presentation of the product at the point of sale. In addition to a packaging solution for producing high-quality vacuum skin packs, MULTIVAC will also be demonstrating, how delicate fish products can be packaged securely and with great care. Exhibiting in conjunction with Handtmann, MULTIVAC will also be showing a range of integrated and fully coordinated line solutions for efficient, hygienic and cost-effective added value throughout the entire process chain – from raw material processing right up to packaging.
With its TX 620 traysealer MULTIVAC offers a compact and cost-effective response to the rising costs and increasing demands on the seafood sector. The machine's small space requirement ensures that the available room is used to the optimum, and this allows the traysealer to be integrated seamlessly into a wide range of production environments – and if needed, also in a two-track version for even greater efficiency. Particular emphasis has been placed on sustainability: The durable construction minimises the use of resources, and it is possible to dispense completely with compressed air or cooling water depending on the type of use. The machine can run a wide range of tray materials – from all types of plastics to paper fibre-based alternatives. In addition to the packaging machine, the line will also feature a L 310 conveyor belt labeller, which provides a high-quality pack presentation thanks to an attractive FullWRAP label. At the trade fair will also be shown a solution for packaging shrimps in oil, which are loaded into trays by a GS Italia filler. GS Italia fillers are individually configured for the product to be dosed, and they are highly reliable in processing all products that can be pumped. They are constructed entirely from stainless steel and are able to dose products in a temperature range of 4 °C to 100 °C without additional conversion work, as well as offering the capability (depending on the model) of changing the size of the dosing tubes. The model to be shown at Seafood doses product chunks up to 20 mm in size, e.g. fish sauces, shrimps with brine, etc.
Also to be exhibited in Barcelona is the compact R 105 MF thermoforming packaging machine for producing high-quality MultiFreshTM vacuum skin packs, e.g. for salmon portions. One of the main features of the R 105 MF as a stand-alone solution is its minimal space requirement, and this makes it particularly attractive to small businesses, as well as companies that require a high degree of production flexibility. The MultiFresh™ process ensures that perfect packaging results are achieved, and that attractive and secure vacuum skin packs are produced, even if the products have sharp or hard features such as bones or shells, or if there is a high level of product protrusion above the tray.
At the trade fair MULTIVAC will also be demonstrating its expertise in the automated processing of delicate fish products with the H 244 handling module. This solution was specially developed for the safe, hygienic and gentle handling of fish products – and this will be demonstrated at the trade fair using salmon portions. Thanks to the precise delta kinematics, the portions can be picked up very carefully and placed precisely into the trays.

Integrated lines
Working together with its strategic partner Handtmann, MULTIVAC offers producers of fish products a range of integrated and fully coordinated production processes, from raw material processing right up to packaging – for efficient, hygienic and cost-effective added value throughout the entire process chain.
In order to meet the rising demand for processed fish products and the utilisation of the resulting by-products, the equipment range from Handtmann Processing offers modular solutions, extending from product preparation and processing right up to the interface with the packaging machine. Since it is a question here of delicate production processes with products that can spoil easily, it is essential to maintain the highest hygiene standards. The line solutions from Handtmann are designed to ensure, that contamination-free production processes are achieved, for example by dosing directly into containers, thermoforming packaging machines and flowpackers, or by loading directly into tray packaging solutions without any contact by operators with the product.
